I am in the process of retiring our 2008 SBS and have gotten the agency to spring for a couple of real servers, running 2012r2 standard (we have discovered techsoup, so suddenly good software is possible for us).Īt the moment our agency has been tied to fairly crappy consumer-grade email through lunarpages, a decision that was made before my time and without my input. Our staff are on the road, at multiple small offices, working at our main office (the only spot with a server environment) as well as working from home. I'm the only in-house IT support at my agency, a charity providing services to children, youth and families (100ish staff including part-timers and relief staff). Although Zimbra is not the best when it comes to Mac either! The plus side with Zimbra to Mac is that Zimbra has iCal support. Mac as a prime example.Īs an administrator I am sure you have seen issues with connectivity to Mac. But Microsoft does have monopoly over the market when it comes to enterprise email! The biggest problem I have with this is that Microsoft being microsoft, does not integrate too well in to platforms other than Microsoft platforms, with the exception of mobile devices.
On a weekly basis one of my deployments (200+ users) would have an hour or two of down time. I found that things just seemed to be logically in the wrong place.Įxchange 2010 was great. I have played around with it a little but I did not like it.
Although I must be honest, I am not very experienced with 2013. And until recently it has always been my preference to do so. I have implemented multiple exchange servers in to companies in my past. Unless you are comfortable in a Linux environment you may find it difficult to become familiar with Zimbra.
